Explosive and Hazard Material Detection are among the most important security tasks for governmental agencies for protection of public places such as airports, ports, governmental buildings and others.
There is a wide range of explosive detection measures including K9 dogs, trace detection, x-ray and spectrometry. It has proven mandatory to combine such measures for a successful protection against Improvised Explosive Devices. There is no stand-alone technology that will provide sufficient protection. Explosive detection based on the Magneto-Electrostatic-Detection (MED) Method however is currently the only solution to detect all common nitrogen based explosives (including ammunition) and also liquid explosives from a safe distance of up to 100 meters.
The MED method is under constant development for almost 20 years and explosive detection devices based on this methodology are being used in more than 30 countries. The current 4th generation of explosive detectors is in serial production since begin of 2010 and several hundreds of devices are being used from governmental agencies, NGOs and security companies worldwide. With the MED method it is possible to accurately guide confirming technologies to the suspected area in order efficiently focus security resources.
As a response to new threat scenarios, hazard material detection (CBRNE) has been added to scope of work and first feasibility prototypes are under testing together with governmental agencies.
